Dave Wright Dog Park

We donated a dog park to the city, as a dog park was one of the top requests from city residents.

Canned Food Drive

Throughout the month of August, we host a canned food drive. Employees & guests drop off food in our showrooms to be donated. At the end of August, the dealership matches the amount of food collected by purchasing non-perishable food items. We then donate the food to HACAP, a local food bank.

Temperature Gauges

A local fire department informed us of temperature gauges which display the temperature outdoors, along with the temperature inside of vehicles. We donated some to local fire and police departments. They have now been able to use them at many different city events to spread awareness and to prevent children and pets from being left in unattended vehicles. (Picture below shows 91.4° outside and 183° inside the vehicle)

Boys & Girls Club

Thanksgiving Meals - Each year our staff volunteers to serve 200+ kids in the Boys & Girls Club, and their families a warm Thanksgiving meal. A lot of these kids aren’t guaranteed a meal at home every day, but they are guaranteed a meal when they go to the club every day. These Thanksgiving meals give us the opportunity to serve not only the kids in the club, but their parents and siblings as well.

Black Sheep Dinner

Each year we take a group of kids from the Boys & Girls Club to dinner at local restaurant called Black Sheep. Many of these kids don’t have the chance to go out to eat often, and some of them have never been out to eat before. Each year, Black Sheep serves the kids appetizers, a warm meal, and dessert. They typically have an activity for the kids which involves making or decorating their own dessert.

Subaru Loves Learning & Subaru Loves Pets

We donate money and kits full of school supplies to underfunded schools in our area.

We donate money to a pet shelter and give them BARK boxes full of toys and dog accessories

Share the Love

We serve Meals around Christmas to elderly in our community , and we donate money to charities for each Subaru sold on behalf of our customers. The local charity is The Boys & Girls Club.

Subaru Loves the Earth

We hand out wildflower seeds to every guest throughout the month of April. They can take these home and plant them. We also created a Pollinator garden by the Dog Park.

Subaru Loves to Care

We donate blankets to kids battling cancer. We also have “Message of Hope” cards where staff and guests can write an encouraging note to the kids.

Subaru Loves to Help

This year we donated shoes and socks to a local school where a majority of their students live in poverty.

KCRG Show You Care

• Provide commercial spots on our local news channel for 10+ charities a month
• Coats for Kids- collect coats, gloves, hats, etc. for kids in need
• Operation Birds- hand out Thanksgiving meals/groceries to those in need
• Summer Writing Contest- encourages kids to read and write during the summer months
• A+ for Education- recognizes teachers who go above and beyond
• 9 Who Care- recognize 9 individuals who have gone above and beyond volunteering/serving our community

United Action for Youth

From providing homeless teens with safe housing to hosting school art programs, United Action for Youth delivers much-needed services to Iowa City and beyond. This organization has a litany of prevention and intervention services available including health education, a young parent program and family counseling. United Action for Youth helps nearly 3,000 people each year as they work to bring adolescents and adults together in a safe and healthy community.

Last Hope Animal Rescue

Dave Wright Subaru is proud to partner with Last Hope Animal Rescue, an animal shelter in Cedar Rapids that strives to find loving homes for homeless, abused and neglected cats and dogs. Last Hope uses a foster-based animal rescue system to ensure the pets are well-cared-for while they wait for a forever home. They also offer an array of pet adoption open house events at their Cedar Rapids adoption center, making it easy for people to find the perfect pet for their home.

Make-A-Wish Iowa

Make-A-Wish Iowa is the local branch of Make-A-Wish, the renowned nonprofit that grants wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Make-A-Wish Iowa grants a wish every other day to kids across the state, and our IA Subaru dealer is pleased to be part of the efforts to make dreams come true.
